Terms
Last updated 6 September 2026
GreatBar is software from GreatPixels, offered as it is. These are the few terms that come with it.
The software
You may install and use GreatBar on any Mac you use, for any purpose. It is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. It opens the things you point it at: the sites, apps, files and folders are yours and their behaviour is theirs. GreatPixels is not liable for what happens in a page you opened or an app a link handed something to.
The app is not open source. You may not decompile it, take it apart, or redistribute a copy of it as your own; a copy you downloaded is yours to use.
What you put in it
Your shortcuts, bars and sessions are yours, kept on your Mac. Adding a file or a folder grants the app access to that one thing through the system, and removing the shortcut ends it. What a site does with an account you sign into inside GreatBar is between you and that site, under its terms, exactly as it would be in a browser.
Blocking
Ads and trackers are blocked in pages that open in GreatBar, from EasyList and EasyPrivacy, which ship with the app. Whether to block is your choice: it is one switch in Settings and one on every link. A page that will not work with blocking on can be let through, and a link that opens in your browser is your browser’s business.
Names and marks
Slack, WhatsApp, Figma, Zoom, Spotify, Telegram, Notion, Teams, Discord, ChatGPT and the rest are marks of their owners. They are named here and in the app to say what a link opens and where an address was copied from. GreatBar is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them, and it asks none of them for anything: a deep link is an address your Mac hands to the app that answers to it. GreatBar and its mark belong to GreatPixels.
Updates and availability
Updates are delivered through this site and may change how the app works. We may stop offering the app or its updates at any time; a copy you already have keeps working.
What this app and this page are built on
GreatBar blocks with EasyList and EasyPrivacy (GPLv3 / CC BY-SA 3.0) and updates itself with Sparkle (MIT). This website is set in Fraunces and Familjen Grotesk (SIL Open Font License), and its glyphs are Tabler Icons (MIT). All four are served from this domain rather than from anyone else’s.
Privacy
What the app and this site do and do not collect is on the privacy page.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
